IT was a day of sunshine, tears and laughter as 50 bowlers gathered at Dumbuck BC for the John Dalrymple Memorial Tournament, which was set up to honour the former past president.

And it was a triple celebration for members of the Dumbarton club with the 10th anniversary of the competition, the first in the new clubhouse - which was John's legacy - and John's youngest son Chris was one of the winning team on the day.

John's young brother Jamie - who joined Dumbuck with him 32 years ago - thanked members, guests and visitors for making the day such a huge success and memorable occasion.

He said: "John would have loved this, seeing so many of you here today.

"This clubhouse was his dream.

"He started it and every president after him has played a huge part in making it all happen.

"The members have made this what it is, every one of you.

"And to top it all Chris, who was in the winning team last year in the old clubhouse, is in the winning team again in the new clubhouse.

"How good is that." Chris added: "I came here with my dad when I was just four-years-old and I promised him that one day I would get my name on a trophy at Dumbuck and I've done it.

"I would like to say thanks to my team and to everyone involved in the club for this. It's been great."
