A GOAL after just 30 seconds set Valley on their way to a thumping victory in the final league match of the season.

With second spot already secured, Valley players were out to impress the coaches in the hope of starting in the cup semi-final expected to be played later this week.

And top scorer Muir surely staked his claim, completing a hat-trick following his early strike.

But it was not plain sailing, with the home side equalising on 15 minutes, after Valley had squandered countless chances to forge further ahead.

A quick goal by Young restored the lead and it was 3-1 at half-time thanks to a neatly dispatched free kick by the left back Grainger.

Inside five minutes of the restart, Glenburn pulled a goal back and then caught Valley cold with the equaliser.

Lifted by their comeback, Glenburn stunned Valley as they took the lead for the first time, the striker taking advantage of a short back pass to score.

Tam Dillon was introduced to arrest the slide and he quickly drew the match level.

Then Young swung in a great cross with 15 minutes left and Dillon headed home from close range.

Tam Kenny replaced Murray who had worked tirelessly in midfield.

Muir"s second made the game safe and with the last kick of the ball, he completed his hat-trick.
