DDIBC gents were in Scottish Cup action at the weekend, with a trip to Alloa IBC to take on Forfar IBC.

The opening exchanges in the game were very tight, with Dumbarton just holding an advantage of a couple of shots for most of the first seven ends.

The match didn’t stay close for very long as Dumbarton soon started racking up a huge number of shots right across the green and eventually cruised to a 114-50 victory, with four winning rinks for the first time this season.

Individual rink scores (Dumbarton skips first): S. Hardie 28-9 J. Stewart; K. Anderson 29-18 M. Aitchison; K. Paton 27-10 G. Leith; B. Neeson 30-13 W. Stewart.

The victory sees Dumbarton progress to face Ambassador Prestwick IBC at Paisley IBC on Saturday, March 1.

Dumbarton IBC were also competing in the National Team Championship at the weekend. The team travelled to Coatbridge on Sunday to take on Cumbernauld IBC.

Again, Dumbarton made a good start to the match, and after the opening blows they were winning on every rink. However, the Cumbernauld team soon found their feet, and led by singles player Jim Byron who trailed 10-9 and went on to win without conceding another shot, the Cumbernauld team rallied together to produce a deserved 6-2 victory.

Full results (Dumbarton skips first): Singles: M. Connolly Jnr 10-21 J. Byron; pairs: K. Anderson 29-8 G. Ansari; triples: B. Neeson 17-22 G. Wilson; fours: S. Hardie 17-22 D. Geal.
