The former Our Lady and St Pat’s pupil was in fine form at the British Gas Swimming Championships where he recorded a time of 25.94 in the 50 metre backstroke to make the team. The championships took place at Tollcross International Swimming Centre, the same venue where Rory will now compete for Team Scotland in this summer’s Games from July 24-29.
Rory has been training 25 hours a week in the build up to the Championships, including a period training at Club La Santa, and is currently the Scottish record holder for 50m backstroke, while he is ranked fourth in Great Britain.
The 22-year-old finished ninth in the US Open in 2013 and is currently ranked 25 in the world ahead of the Glasgow Games this summer.
