This year’s competition, due to take place at Dumbarton Golf Club on Sunday, August 31, is open to all West Dunbartonshire secondary school pupils with a golf handicap and looks set to be as popular as last year.

There will be gross and scratch prizes presented at the championship but the biggest prize on offer will be the chance to represent West Dunbartonshire in the Charlie Green trophy.

The Charlie Green trophy is a a Ryder Cup style match between East and West Dunbartonshire, the trophy is due to be contested on Sunday, September 21 at Kirkintilloch Golf Club and this month’s championship will act as the regional qualifier for the event.

Any young golfers interested in participating in the High School Golf Championship can pick up an entry form from their golf club or download an entry form from www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/leisure-parks-events/west-dunbartonshire-leisure/active-schools/ There is a £5 entry fee and the deadline for entry is Tuesday, August 26.
