The 23-year-old has options for fights in the next few months and is currently weighing up his options.

Johnston’s has only been beaten twice since turning pro and has managed five stoppages out of his six wins.

His only setbacks have been decision losses against highly rated and undefeated fighters Walter Gahadza and Sam Boult. Johnston also has a win over UFC veteran Aaron Wilkinson.

Renowned MMA website WHOATV.com named Johnston among their top picks of Scottish fighters who could be signed by UFC — the largest mixed martial arts promotion company in the world, which features the top ranked fighters in the sport.

The Balloch man who represent the D-Unit gym in Dumbarton and the Dinky Ninjas Fight Team may just be a few wins away from hitting the big time.

He told SportScene: “We’re looking at a fight in March and April, I’ve got a few options which is good. There are rumours that UFC are coming to Scotland in June, to get signed for them you need a bit of luck but hopefully a couple of wins will help me.

“UFC is definitely the goal that is where I want to be, not just to fight a couple of times and lose just to be able to say I was a UFC fighter but to get there and stay there. To be named on WHOATV.com as one of the guys with a chance of getting signed was a pretty big deal, there are probably guys ahead of me but it was nice to be mentioned.” Johnston balances his busy training schedule with his job as a financial advisor, perhaps not the job many would expect such a talented fighter to have. However Alan is ready to commit to the cage should the call from UFC come.

He expalined: “Once you are signed with them you can’t fight anywhere else. You don’t know where you are going to be fighting one fight to the next, you could be in Vegas, Europe, all over. My work and my boss have been great about it, they know that is what I want to do and have said that if I go I can come back to my job, I’m very thankful for that.”
