GARRY Fleming, Jamie Lindsay and Frazer Wright were the big winners at last week’s Sons Supporters Trust Player of the Year Awards.

Supporters, players, management, club officials and volunteers gathered at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium after last Sunday’s season-ending 1-1 draw at Alloa.

Fleming didn’t have much time to get comfortable in his seat as he was up collecting four awards.

He took home awards for the Sons Supporters Trust Player of the Year, as voted for by the fans, along with Top Goalscorer, Players’ Player of the Year, and Goal of the Season for his winner against St Mirren in the penultimate game of the season.

Meanwhile, on-loan Celtic man Jamie Lindsay was named Sonstrust Young Player of the Year after a season of consistent performances in centre midfield. There was also a double award haul for veteran defender Frazer Wright, who was named player of the year by the Trust Travel section and Sons View editor Graeme Robertson.

Also walking away from the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium with special awards to recognise the fans are Alan Findlay (Graham Brough Memorial Shield) and Simon Barrow (Trust Special Award).

In his fourth season at the Sons, Fleming has had his most successful scoring season, finding the net 11 times.

Jamie Lindsay settled well into the Dumbarton side after struggling early on in the season with injury.

The 20-year-old’s energy and reading of the game in the middle of the park was pivotal to Stevie Aitken’s men in a league where they often concede possession to teams with bigger budgets and hence more quality.

Frazer Wright was an ever-present at centre back during the season. the 36-year-old was a steadying influence whether alongside Darren Barr or Gregor Buchanan. Despite a lack of pace, his positional play ensured he was rarely caught out.
