Dumbarton goalkeeper Alan Martin has signed for Championship rivals Queen of the South on a two-year deal.

As revealed by the Reporter yesterday, the former Hamilton player has signed with the Doonhamers for next season.

The 28-year-old picked up five prizes at the end of season awards night, after having a highly successful period with Stevie Aitken's side.

Martin made 39 appearances for Dumbarton, keeping eight clean sheets during his time at the Rock.

Speaking on the Queens website, manager Gary Naysmith said: "Alan had a very impressive season last year and was arguably one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Championship.

"While it was relatively straight forward and easy to conclude the deal to bring Callum to the club, we had to work really hard to get this one over the line.

"Other teams in Scotland as well as clubs in England were interested in securing his services, so I'm delighted the hard work has paid off and he sees his future with Queen of the South."
