Sons close in on survival
PAUL Nugent has set his team-mates a target of 12 points to ensure safety after Dumbarton's recent run of good results.
The defender believes, despite climbing to sixth spot in the table, there is work to be done to make sure the Sons are playing in Division Two next season.
Nugent, who returned to action in Dumbarton's victroy over East Fife on Saturday, believes it is an achievable task, taking into consideration the recent results which has left the club brimming with confidence.
It is a stark contrast from the start of the season when the Sons found themselves with four points from a possible 30.
He told the Sport Scene: "We need around four wins to make sure we stay up.
"If we play the way we have recently, there is no reason why this can't happen.
"At the start of the season, we were talking about relegation and no one gave us a chance.
"However now, it is not a word that is mentioned.
"Things have picked up, we set a base before the big freeze.
"We were winning games and that got the confidence back, we won five in a row and since then things have been great.
"We still need to tighten up at the back but we are scoring goals to counter the ones we have been losing."
