Sons must bounce back
SONS striker Mark Gilhaney reckons Saturday's bizarre 6-0 thumping by Brechin City was just a blip.
Gilhaney, pictured, was stunned by the heavy loss against the Glebe Park men and had thought that their poor form was behind them.
And he insists nothing but a win against Stenhousemuir tonight (Tuesday) will cure their away day hangover.
Speaking yesterday (Monday), he told Sport Scene: "It was really just a bad day at the office but we have a couple of days before we play Stenhousemuir to get it out of our system.
"I couldn't put my finger on it. The game was just one of those things.
"We had this kind of form at the start of the season and I thought we were over it."
The Sons will be looking to bounce back from their second 6-0 defeat of the campaign against Stenhousemuir before facing Alloa Athletic at the Strathclyde Homes Stadium on Saturday.
Despite the heavy loss on Saturday, the Sons can move further away from Stenny who are sitting in ninth place.
Ochilview is a tough ground at the best of times as Dumbarton have found out this season. However, Gilhaney insists the players can pull their socks up and secure a result.
He said: "I hope so, I was confident on Saturday. We had every chance of taking something from the first half on Saturday and I thought we might get something from the second half.
"But we've got to go there and win. We're four points ahead of them but they have a game in hand so we've got to go there and get a result."
