Wilson fired Dumbarton ahead inside two minutes with a terrific finish, only for them to be pegged back by a Ryan Hardie strike.
The score remained level at half-time but Hardie struck again soon after the break before a Haris Vukic wonder strike a few minutes later wrapped up the win for Rangers.
Wilson insists that losing a goal so soon after half-time was always going to make life difficult for Sons.
He said: “It was disappointing that we couldn’t hold on to the lead in the first half, but when you come under the pressure that Rangers were putting on you always felt that something was going to give.
“To be honest it was a disappointing goal we lost to make it 1-1.
We were attacking and then to find the ball in the net 30 seconds later, it was a sore one to take.
“We came out in the second half and though we’ll try and keep it tight, but when you lose a goal as quickly as that it is downhill from there.”
