It was Vale’s second defeat in a row after losing 4-2 to Central District Second Division champions Rossvale last week.
The heavy defeat leaves Vale third bottom of the league and Hamill insists he was embarrassed by what his team produced on Saturday.
He said: “That was shocking, the worst I have ever witnessed since I have been at the Vale. We seemed to have had the guts ripped out of us by last week’s defeat at Rossvale, where we played very well and were unlucky to lose two late goals.
“Until then we had an outside chance of getting one of the remaining two promotion spots, but that display against Port Glasgow was dreadful and embarrassing.
“We have simply not been good enough, but junior football is very cyclical, and we must now look at bringing a few young guys in and building for next season.”
