Vale of Leven’s Breathing Space player of the month award for August was awarded to the entire team last week, after outstanding performances across the park.

With their solid form during the month, manager Brian Brown thought the award should be shared between the sides.

The Vale started the month off poorly in their Central Sectional League Cup group with a 3-0 loss to Port Glasgow, but backed that up with a spirited 1-0 loss against First Division side Renfrew.

The Vale finished strongly however with convincing 3-0 wins over both Johnstone Burgh and Greenock.

They continued that form into the league, winning their first game at home against St Anthony’s 4-2, before backing that up with a 5-0 win over Gartcairn.

Manager Brian Brown said: “The way we’ve played through the games, I think everybody deserved a bit of it rather than giving one person praise.”
