A VALE rapper will be brushing shoulders with some of Scotland's best hip hop talent at the Loch Lomond Boat Party on Saturday.

Chad "The Lad" Davis, 33, from Haldane, has spent the last few years trying to increase awarness of, not just his own music, but the thriving underground scene he is a part of.

Now, Chad will bring his mic skills to the Boat Party's Hip Hop Underground Stage. He told the Reporter: "I saw the article in the paper saying they [the Party's organisers] were looking for local acts and I'd already expressed an interest in playing before that, so I just sent a few tracks in.

"It's always good when you get likeminded individuals together and you are catering for different types of music, the audience are a bit more open minded. I'm unsure how long I'm on for, but I'd imagine it'll be between 20 and 30 minutes." Chad added: "The challenge is making sure you cover all bases, there's lots of different influences and samples in my songs so I try and do a bit of everything, and it's the same with my lyrics.

"There's lots of different acts coming from all over, there's a lot of good hip hop acts coming from all over Scotland, I'm really looking forward to seeing Girobabies and Holy Pistol Club as well of course because they're local." Chad is sharing the stage with a variety of acts from the Scottish scene he admires and respects, such as Gasp and Mr Jinx. He added: "When I saw they had a stage just for hip hop and some of the acts playing, I had to be a part of it.

"I'm really chuffed I've been asked to play when you look at the acts, it's a really high standard." "I've pretty much got my set sussed for that, I put out a five track EP last month so there will be a lot of songs from that involved.

"The capacity is only 250, it's going to be a tight wee crowd. As long as there's a crowd and they're looking to listen then I'm more than happy." The Boat Party takes place this Saturday from 3pm to 1am on board the Maid of the Loch. Tickets must be bought beforehand and are available from www.tickets-scotland.com.
