The next stage in upgrading two Bonhill primary schools is under way after the local authority applied for planning permission for the works.
The revamp of Ladyton and St Ronan’s primary schools is part of a major education shake up in the area including the merging and closure of several schools.
Highdykes and Ladyton primary schools are merging and moving into the St Ronan’s building, while St Ronan’s pupils will move into the old Ladyton school and Highdykes will close and be sold for housing.
West Dunbartonshire Council has applied to refurbish St Ronan’s Primary, including replacing cladding, windows, and roof coverings.
Permission is also sought for ‘minor alterations’ to enable a nursery to be created within the school.
The council has also applied for permission for the revamp of Ladyton Primary, including installing new aluminium windows and doors with integrated roller shutters.
The existing flat roof will be upgraded and new cladding installed along with new escape ramps.
The work is expected to take place over the summer holidays.
