A BRUCEHILL man who admitted committing offences less than two weeks after he was freed on bail for other matters has been remanded in custody.

Joseph Quinn, 31, who lives in Arden Crescent in Dumbarton, appeared from custody at the town's sheriff court last Tuesday where he pleaded guilty to two offences which took place on April18.

Quinn stole a bottle of vodka from the Coop store in Carrochan Road in Balloch, and on the same day in Bridge Street he made violent threats towards police officers, shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive manner.

Defence solicitor Phil Lafferty told the court in mitigation that his client had an alcohol problem, adding: "He is doing his best to tackle what is an ongoing problem. He fully understands that at his age he really has to address these issues and is trying to do that to the best of his ability.

"I appreciate fully the court's patience is stretched to the limit but I would ask that he is given another chance."

Sheriff William Gallacher called for background reports and deferred sentence until May 11. Remanding Quinn until then, he said: "Just 12 days ago you were given bail and can't comply with that."
