Ward 1 Lomond

George Rice

Independent

I AM standing for West Dunbartonshire Council in the Lomond Ward on Thursday, May 4.

Politics is broken. We have completely forgotten why we elect Councillors (and MSPs, MPs and MEPs).

I am standing on a platform of being there to represent YOU on the issues that you bring up.

If elected, then I will be there to raise your issues, concerns and defend your interests. And I am able to do that without any political ambition nor any political party interests influencing me, or what I say or do.

While my primary focus is the representation of all of you, there are some things that I would push for strongly if elected.

For example, an increase in resources provided in social care to protect our elderly and most vulnerable, address the scandal of chicken from Thailand being served to school children when we should be supporting our local economy and reducing our carbon footprint, and overturn the ban on Lidl from opening a new store which will create jobs and increase competition between supermarkets, resulting in less food poverty.

The nature of the voting system in local elections means that your vote will not be wasted.

If your 1st preference vote is eliminated, it will be reallocated to who you chose 2nd, and then 3rd, and so on.

Please give me your first preference vote to restore the link between the people of this area and the council.
