For the last 10 years as a Dumbarton councillor I have worked hard for all our residents. As Housing Convenor, depute Regeneration Spokesperson and Town Centre Forum Chairperson, Dumbarton is my priority.
I proposed the massive investment in council housing, including new homes in Brucehill. I introduced the “More Homes Better Homes” policy of 1,000 additional social homes in five years including those planned for Castlehill, Westcliff & Dumbarton Riverside.
I championed the council’s HQ relocation to Church St, bringing hundreds of staff to the town centre daily which will revitalise our High St. The Dumbarton Castle riverside walkway, Levengrove & Posties Park’s investment will see new pavilions and sports facilities available to residents and visitors alike.
By next year every pupil will be taught in a new or upgraded school, and sports facilities & play parks have been upgraded at the Dumbarton Common and many local estates.
These achievements and proposals have not happened by chance, my Labour colleagues and I have worked hard to make real change in Dumbarton.
I have supported public services by overturning the transfer of our housing stock away from tenants and backing no compulsory redundancies. I will continue to campaign to protect public services, particularly our vital hospital at the Vale. In the last 10 years despite promises by Government Ministers hardly a week goes by without news of further cuts.
If re-elected I will continue to work on your priorities of housing and town centre regeneration and campaigning for the Vale Hospital.
