Police are searching for the man who robbed a shop attendants in Alexandria at knife point.

Two members of staff at the McColls store on Argyle Street were approached by a man, described as being between 20 and 30 years of age, around five foot seven, and wearing a grey hooded top and Adidas tracksuit bottoms, at 7pm on Thursday evening.

The man walked behind the counter and, holding a knife, demanded money from the staff member at the till.

After being handed a three figure sum of money and a large amount of cigarette packs, the man fled the premises towards the railway line with the stolen contents in a plastic bag.

Police, who were immediately called, monitored the CCTV footage and spoke to the witnesses.

Members of the local area with any information about the thief are asked to get in touch.
