The summer vibes were in full swing down at Bellsmyre Development Trust’s Gala Day, as the charitable organisation laid on an event with something for all ages in idyllic sunshine.
The Cutty Sark Centre was buzzing with around 360 people on Saturday, July 14, with everything from craft stalls, games and light-hearted competitions on offer.
Singer Rebecca Rockwell and young people from local groups such as Lynne McMunnigall School of Dance and Premier Dance Academy delighted the crowds with their talents throughout the day.
A barbecue kept tummies happy, while a raffle ensured a fantastic amount of money was raised from the day, with the grand total hitting £1630.
And the funds will be put straight back into the community with the Trust’s work, as they
Donnie Nicolson, manager of the Bellsmyre Trust, was delighted with the turnout – and the glorious weather.
“The kids enjoyed the bouncy castle, and the toddlers had a biscuit making session. There was face-painting and craft stalls.
“We had terrific weather and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.”
The gala day has been a feature of the Trust’s annual calendar for seven years now – as long as the Trust itself has been running.
Donnie added: “Again we received terrific support from local businesses, including Chivas Brothers, Aggreko, supermarkets and other local businesses.
“A huge thanks to the staff, volunteers and trust supporters – without them it doesn’t happen.”
