It’s time to get your kilts on and dust off those dancing shoes as Balloch Pier plays host to a traditional ceilidh for a very good cause.

Taking place on board the Maid of the Loch on Saturday, August 18, the event is inviting locals and those from further afield to come and jig the night away in a bid to raise funds for the ‘Maid to Sail’ appeal, which hopes to get the historic and last UK-built paddle steamer sailing once more on Loch Lomond.

It promises to be a fantastic evening of live folk and traditional music, with Scottish and Irish band Folky MacFolk Face dishing out the tunes from 7pm in the Art Deco-inspired interior of one of Loch Lomond’s most popular tourist attractions.

To fuel the night of festivities, guests can also enjoy a fully licensed bar on board the ship.

All proceeds will go to the Maid to Sail appeal, which has seen a group of dedicated volunteers work tirelessly for more than 20 years to restore the ship back to its former glory.

In 2015 the Heritage Lottery Fund pledged around £3.8 million to support the Maid’s restoration – on the condition that the campaign itself raised £1.7m

Tickets cost £8 per person and can be purchased on 01389 711865 or email Amanda at balloch.office@gmail.com.
