The Old Military Road at the Rest and Be Thankful opened to traffic this morning as work continued to clear debris caused by a landslide on the A83.
However, with bad weather forecast for Tuesday it will be closed again at 6pm tonight.
BEAR Scotland, which manages and maintains the A83, said a check would be made on the old road on Tuesday morning to determine whether it could reopen.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north west manager, said: “This is the first step to the full opening of the Old Military Road and ultimately the A83 which hopefully will allow for improved journey times in and out of Argyll.
“Safety of motorists and our workforce is always a priority and given the forecast rain for Tuesday a cautious approach is being taken.
"It is hoped that given the generally improving weather forecast this week that good progress can be made in the full recovery of the A83.”
“We thank the local community and road users for their patience and assure them we’re doing everything we can to address the multiple landslips as quickly and safely as we can.”
