A CLYDEBANK thug has been jailed for three years while he awaits his fate for attempted murder of a nine-month-old baby as well.

William Robertson, 21, was convicted by a jury of abusive and threatening behaviour towards three of his ex-partners over an 18 month period, and was jailed for 21 months.

In a second offence, Robertson was convicted of threatening a neighbour with a baseball bat with a knife attached to the end of it.

Two separate sheriffs at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week jailed him for the offences, both to run consecutively.

But Robertson is also awaiting sentence at the High Court for the attempted murder of the baby at a property in Jean Armour Drive, North Drumry.

A jury found him guilty after a trial at the High Court in Glasgow earlier this month. It was his third conviction in as many months.

In October, a jury returned guilty verdicts at Dumbarton Sheriff Court against Robertson, of Mossgiel Drive.

Robertson was found guilty of, on various occasions between January 1 and December 31, 2016, at a house in Robert Burns Avenue, of repeatedly shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner.

The jury heard how Robertson was punching walls, made abusive remarks and sent abusive messages to his ex-partner.

The jury then convicted the Clydebank man of similar offences towards a second ex-partner between June 1, 2016 and August 31, 2017. The offences all happened at a house in Robert Burns Avenue, Mossgiel Drive and a flat in Jean Armour Drive.

Robertson was repeatedly shouting and swearing and acting in an aggressive manner, made abusive remarks and sent abusive messages to the woman.

He committed the offences while on bail.

The jury returned a third guilty verdict on Robertson of carrying out further abuse on a third ex-partner on various occasions between January 1 and June 2, 2017. He was again repeatedly shouting and swearing at her, made abusive remarks and sent her threatening and abusive messages, making threats of violence towards both her and her family.

He was acquitted of a fourth charge, against a fourth woman, where it had been alleged he had acted in a similar manner between January 20 and April 23, 2016 at Robert Burns Avenue and Dewar Gate, Drumchapel.

Sheriff William Gallacher, who had previously revoked Robertson's bail and remanded him in custody, jailed Robertson last week for 21 months to run consecutively with a 15 months sentence imposed in the same week by Sheriff Simon Pender.

In the second offence called before Sheriff Pender, Robertson threatened a neighbour with the baseball bat with a knife attached.

Robertson was found in the garden area of a house in Mossgiel Drive, between midnight and 12.55am on July 2, 2018.

He was shouting and swearing and challenging a neighbour to fight. He repeatedly made threats of violence and armed himself with the weapon.

Robertson was on two bail orders at the time.

Also on July 2, at Mossgiel Avenue, Robertson resisted arrest from two officers.
