WEST Dunbartonshire Council made history last Wednesday when, for the first time, a full council meeting was recorded for live audio streaming.

The new system was installed at the local authority’s new offices in Church Street, Dumbarton, with Provost William Hendrie, setting out the ground rules by stating that should he feel at any time that recording should be suspended, he would take that decision.

The meeting was held in the building’s ‘civic space’ room, with all 22 elected councillors in the chamber, with the Provost in the chair flanked by chief executive Joyce White and Peter Hessett, the council’s strategic lead for regulatory services, along with council officer Christine McCaffary.

Audio recordings of the meeting will be published on the council’s website and webcast/audio stream platform.
