Teamwork is just one of the important skills Primary 6 and 7 pupils at St Patrick's Primary School in Dumbarton learn at after-school netball classes.

The sessions, which are led by clerical assistant Patricia McLaughlin and a volunteer gran, Mrs McCulloch, not only give the children a chance to learn how to play the game, they also get active and stay fit by joining in.

The classes have been running for 33 years and they take part in netball festivals, organised by West Dunbartonshire Active Schools, three to four times a year attended by all the school in the area.

Mrs McLaughlin said: "The girls thoroughly enjoy playing and we hope they will learn to love the game.

"They learn the importance of teamwork and how it's important to need to pass the ball to someone who's in the right place, not just their pals."
