Police are encouraging shoppers and businesses to be alert after incidents of fake notes being used to pay for goods in the Alexandria area.
When scrutinised, the poor quality of the forged £20 notes is apparent and the counterfeit money has been failing traditional detector pen tests.
The alleged forgeries have included Clydesdale Bank and Royal Bank of Scotland notes.
