A GUN was fired during an attempted robbery in Old Kilpatrick last night.

Detectives are appealing for information after three men entered the foyer of the Twisted Thistle on Dumbarton Road with a firearm.

No-one was injured and nothing was stolen during the incident which happened around 10.15pm.

Only one customer was in the pub at the time and three female employees were working.

The three men responsible are believed to have made off in a vehicle west along Dumbarton Road, towards Dumbarton.

They have all been described as wearing dark clothing with two of the men wearing balaclavas and one with a scarf covering his face.

Detective Inspector Ogilvie Ross, the officer in charge of the enquiry, is appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

He said: "The Twisted Thistle is a family pub, and this is an incredibly rare incident in this area. However, we have increased high-visibility uniform patrols to help re-assure the public.

"I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time the incident occurred or anyone who has information about the identity of those involved to get in touch with me as a matter of urgency."

Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
