THREE teenagers were taken to hospital on Friday night from an alleged disturbance involving dozens of young people.

Around 7.15pm on April 19, police responded to reports from Balloch Park.

An 18-year-old man was rushed by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. He was treated and later released.

Another 18-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident and he was released on an undertaking to appear at court at a later date.

Another two teenaged boys, one 15 and one 16, were also injured in separate assaults during the same disturbance, said police.

They were also treated at the QEUH and later released.

Police said enquiries were continuing into Friday's events.

Reports online on the number of youths present ranged from 60 to 200, but police could not confirm figures.

Community Policing Inspector Mo Boyle said “We have had additional officers on patrol throughout the Easter weekend and again today we will have additional foot, cycle and mobile patrols at our busiest locations.

“Whilst the majority of people come to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the sunshine, sometimes on days like this a small minority make poor choices and can become involved in anti-social behaviour, this impacts on everyone else including families, young children, local residents and the many visitors who have just come to enjoy the good weather.

“I would appeal to everyone to be considerate of others, make safe and positive choices in terms of where you are going, who you are going with and to think about what will happen when you get there.

“Please speak with officers if you have any concerns. We hope that everyone enjoys the sunshine and stays safe.”

As we reported last week, police appealed for information after a teenager exposed himself to members of the public in Balloch Park on Thursday night.

Around 5.50 pm on Thursday, April 18 a woman and her daughter were walking near to the walled gardens in the park when they saw a young man exposing himself.

The man is described as white, between 14 and18 years of age, around 5ft 10 of slim build with dark blonde or light brown hair which was curly on the top.
