Firefighters remain on the scene after a large grass fire near to Bonhill following soaring temperatures over the Easter weekend.

Nine fire appliances first attended the incident at 5.28pm last night (April 22) as the blaze took hold in the hills behind Pappert and Braehead.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed that two appliances remain at the scene.

The pictures above were taken by Jason Methven who said he was escorted out by firefighters as he got stuck up at the Pappert Cairn and couldn't pass back down.

The O'Hare resident told the Reporter: "We were out a walk and then got trapped. We then got escorted down. I was up with my brother and it was quite an adventure."
