DRIVERS and cyclists are being reminded to exercise care when the Dumbarton 10K takes place this evening.

The Babcock-sponsored event is set to welcome over 700 runners for the race.

Runners will have changing facilities at Dumbarton Academy before the race sets off from East End Park, adjacent to Crosslet Place.

It will then follow the footpath through the park before going up Third Avenue and on to the SUSTRANS cycle route.

After turning on to the pavement beside the A82 at the Dunglass Service Station, the race carries on to the Dunglass Roundabout before turning back on to the cycle path and heading back towards Dumbarton.

Once they go through the Greenhead Road underpass for the second time, runners will then go on to Smollett Road and Crosslet Road, before going along Dumbuie Avenue and a short part of Dunbritton Road.

The race then goes almost the length of Dumbuck Road, then through Overwood Drive and on to Round Riding Road.

Runners then turn on to Bonhill Road before the home straight, along Crosslet Road and back to the start in East End Park.

The race starts at 7.30pm, and it is anticipated that it will be finished by 9pm at the latest.

While runners are asked to keep to the pavement where possible, drivers and cyclists should still be careful, and may be held up at some road junctions during the race.

Marshals' directions must be followed at all times.
