A TEAM from Vale of Leven Academy were amongst the finalists of a competition to discover the next generation of enterprising young people.
Amy Allen, Hannah Baird, Janie Mackenzie, Lucy Bennie, Kelli Withers and Jade Devlin are all part of the school’s Young Enterprise team which travelled to the Festival of Youth Enterprise Championships in Edinburgh last week.
They headed to the final in recognition of their hard work this year setting up and running their own company Waxy Words, which aimed to inspire children’s creativity through the use of desirable and sustainable personalised crayons.
They had previously qualified for the final by winning the Young Enterprise Dunbartonshire Area Award for Best Overall Company at Strathclyde University in March.
Geoff Leask, chief executive of Young Enterprise Scotland, said: “Last week’s event is an opportunity to celebrate some of the great achievements by young people, their educators and our volunteers. I congratulate all who participated.”
