Dumbarton Academy held the school’s annual Pride of Dumbarton Awards ceremony recently to recognise the efforts of pupils in S1 to S3.
A host of students were presented with awards and prizes at the event, which celebrated academic excellence, curriculum superstars, Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Awards, UKMT Maths challenge awards, Rocket Car Challenge awards, Enterprise awards and more.
There was great turnout at the ceremony and the audience enjoyed music and dance displays from several pupils, as well as listening to the head teacher’s report on the session.
The awards were presented by science teacher Mrs Pat Latimer and maths teacher Mr Fergus Arnott, both of whom are retiring at the end of this year after many years of service to the Dumbarton Academy school community.
Claire McInally, head teacher of Dumbarton Academy, told the Reporter: “The Pride of Dumbarton Awards was a huge success.
“Both pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed the event.
“It is really important to recognise our young people who have demonstrated a real growth or commitment to self-improvement over the year and lived out our school values through their everyday actions.
“I’d like to pass on congratulations to all our winners”
