A GROUP of neighbours in Alexandria are savouring that winning feeling after scooping £30,000 each in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

The Napierston Road residents netted the cash when their postcode, G83 9EP, was drawn on Saturday, June 29.

The lucky winners were presented with their cheques by the lottery’s ambassador Judie McCourt, who had a great time meeting the lucky neighbours.

On finding out the happy news, 82-year-old Nan Berry, exclaimed: “I can’t believe I’ve got £30,000 smackeroonies!”

She plans to spend her windfall on a holiday with her friend. some nice new clothes as well as enjoying a stay in a lovely hotel down south somewhere, possibly Devon to get some sun.

Couple Pat and John Brooks were just as delighted with the cash boost, describing the win as “life-changing”.

Pat, 69, said: “I’m blown away. At our age this kind of money is life changing.

“We had been looking at holidays but they’re so expensive this year, so it’s fantastic that we can now go on holiday together.

“It’s great for the community - especially with the money that goes to local charities from playing too. I think it’s really important to give something back.”

Fellow resident Nicola Kane, 41, was joined by her husband Steven as she was presented with her fabulous prize.

She decided to take part in the Postcode Lottery because she does a lot of charity work, and she liked the fact that children’s charities would be helped by playing the game.

Nicola and hubby Steven are already going to Sorrento for their 10th anniversary later this year - but will now be able to do it in a bit more luxury thanks to their £30,000 windfall.

Tracey Wilson, 40, and her husband Robert will also be celebrating their 10th anniversary with their win.

She said they might use their winnings to take a holiday or do something else nice to celebrate, but admitted she was still in shock so she will need to have more of a think about how exactly they will use the cash.

The remaining winners couldn’t be there to collect their prize, so the money will be paid directly into their bank accounts.
