REINFORCEMENT work to a "weak" Renton rail bridge has taken a step closer following a decision by the council.
Network Rail had made a application of prior approval to West Dunbartonshire Council to carry out work on the bridge on Carman Road.
According to planning lists, the application was granted last month.
The plans include the installation of a new bridge deck, which will bolster the currently crumbling structure - which is already having to be propped up.
In a report released by planners about the application, officers said: "The existing bridge has been identified as being structurally weak by Network Rail and is currently being supported on a temporary structure, a new bridge deck will be installed to allow the structural issues to be addressed and would result in the removal of the temporary support."
