The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) is inviting residents in Dumbarton and the Vale to give blood.

The SNBTS will be visiting Alexandria Community Education Centre on Main Street next month.

The dates and times are as follows: Thursday, August 1 from 2pm–3.30pm and 5pm–7:30pm, and Friday, August 2: 9:30am–11:30am and 1pm–5pm.

Fiona Shields, donor recruitment and publicity officer at the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service said: "Every minute of every day someone in Scotland receives blood as part of a life saving or life improving treatment.

"Less than 4 per cent of the population currently give blood. The Scottish National Blood transfusion Service (SNBTS) must welcome 3500 blood donors each week to meet the needs of patients in Scotland.

"We aim to maintain a six day supply of each blood group, at all times, to continue to meet hospital requirements.

"Whether you've never donated before, give blood regularly or haven't been for a while, SNBTS would like to invite you to your local blood donating session."
