Cops are hunting for a serial fire-starter in Dumbarton who set alight a car and two businesses.

Detectives, who are treating the fires as linked, are appealing for information after a Fiat Doblo van was set on fire while parked on Overburn Avenue outside Brock Bowling Club at around 8.55pm on Sunday, July 14.

The fire was extinguished by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and the vehicle was removed to undergo forensic examination.

Around the same time that evening a fire was set in Jewson Builders Yard on Overburn Avenue, causing damage to stock.

The fire was extinguished and no one was injured.

On Thursday 18 July 2019, two further deliberate fires were set at Jewson and at Ferguson Flooring on Ash Road.

Again both fires were extinguished and no one was injured.

Detective Constable Russell Campbell said “Our enquiries are continuing into each of these incidents to establish who is responsible for setting these fires.

"For the information gathered so far, we are linking these incidents.
