A TRIP to Boden Boo was enjoyed by all who attended a Street Bikes club recently.

The new Y Sort It project, which was launched in April, aims at getting young people on their bikes to cycle to school, college or work.

It also aims to promote the benefits of an active lifestyle, as well as saving the planet from unnecessary carbon emissions.

A group of youngsters cycled to Boden Boo beach with the Street Bikes Saturday Cycle Club.

Emily Kirkwood, Street Bikes co-ordinator, said: “The trip was 12.1 miles, from Street Bikes, there and back.

“It was our longest and most challenging cycle for our young people yet, but they did absolutely amazing.

“They pushed themselves to keep going and a few conquered their fear of heights by going over the Erskine Bridge.

“It was great to relax at the beach, paddling in the water with the sun shining.”

Street Bikes also aims to save as many bikes as possible from going to landfill to help save the environment.

With two mechanic workers and volunteers, the project offers basic bike maintenance workshops to young people, giving them the skills to fix their own bikes and learn about basic upkeep.

Street Bikes provides free recycled bikes to the community, and Y Sort It also have a pool of fleet bikes for staff and volunteers.
