A DUMBARTON man who stole four jackets from a clothes store in the centre of the town is to be assessed for a tough regime of drug testing and treatment as a possible punishment.
Richard Hinton, 49, of Ardoch Crescent, stole the items – with a total value of £80 – from the Peacocks store in College Way on October 18.
Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard on Friday that none of the stolen items had been recovered.
Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Hinton: “Your record is deplorable – it runs to six pages of previous convictions.
“It seems you just choose to continue to offend regardless of the impact your offending has on the community.
“A DTTO [drug treatment and testing order] is not a light option; if you fail to complete it, all the sentencing options will remain available at that stage.”
