PLANS have been submitted to build social housing on the site of a former Vale school.

The land which previously housed Highdykes Primary in Bonhill was sold off by West Dunbartonshire Council in 2017 for around £300,000.

Now, developer AS Homes (Scotland) has applied to the council for permission to build 49 two and three bedroom homes, along with two bedroom cottage flats.

As well as the new homes, a roads network will be created by the developer, along with associated parking facilities.

The proposal also details the intention to create “informal” play space to the north-west of the development.

Also detailed in the report, is the strategy behind AS Homes’ development, which includes preserving the “outstanding” views across the Vale of Leven and beyond.
