A HELENSBURGH man who alarmed his partner when he went to a Garelochhead house and shouted, swore, made threats and kicked the door has been given the legal equivalent of a slap on the wrist.

Steven McKeown, of Kirkmichael Road, had admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the Fairways property on July 4 last year.

Sentence had been deferred for the case to run alongside a community payback order (CPO) imposed on McKeown for a separate offence, in which he breached a bail condition by going back to the property last August 11.

Sheriff William Gallacher told McKeown: “The order is clearly beneficial to you. If you continue to comply, you will have... a better chance of achieving something with your life.”

The CPO will run for seven weeks; for his threatening behaviour, McKeown was admonished and dismissed.
