MEMBERS of the Helensburgh and Lomond Youth Forum joined the town’s community council at its monthly beach clean along the seafront on Saturday.

Eleven young people from the youth forum, along with three community learning workers, braved the thoroughly filthy weather and rolled up their sleeves to clear the Esplanade beach of the marine litter which has gathered along the shore since the last beach clean a month ago.

Helensburgh Community Council convener Norman Muir said: “When so much negativity surrounds young folk these days, it was a pleasure to have so many motivated and hard-working supporters helping to keep the shoreline of Helensburgh clean and tidy.

“Our thanks go to all those who took part, namely Leanna Brown, Chelsea Black, Alex Bates, William Gough, Tori Milne, Rhianna Macfarlane, Samantha Taylor, Abbie Graham, Cameron McBride, Freya Macfarlane and Rosie Sumsion, and community learning workers Ruth Cairns, Eileen Kay and Stephanie Thomas.”
