The PDSA is searching for miracle pets in Dumbarton and the Vale for its pet survivor awards.

The competition is open to any pet that has been treated by a vet for a life-threatening illness or injury between August 1, 2018 and August 31, 2019.

The last Scottish pet to win was working Cocker Spaniel, Darcy.

This poor pooch survived a 60ft fall down a dam in July 2016.

It was a miracle she was still alive, but she had suffered multiple life-threatening injuries, and it was touch-and-go for her at first.

Darcy endured a long road to recovery, including multiple operations and many months of treatment and rehabilitation, including hydrotherapy, physio and acupuncture to enable her to walk again.

The closing date is Sunday, September 8 and the winner of PDSA Pet Survivor 2019 will be decided by a public vote later in the year.

They will receive a trophy, plus a luxury pet hamper worth £200.
