THE longest-lived choir in town is inviting the Helensburgh public to its popular annual ‘Come and Sing’ event this weekend.
The Helensburgh Dorian Choir’s day-long event takes place at the United Reformed Church in West Princes Street from 10am until 4pm on Saturday, August 17.
It’s an opportunity to participate in a full day of choral singing, enjoying music from Abba to Zadok The Priest, and is a day not to be missed by anyone who enjoys choral music and the chance to sing as part of a choir whose talent is matched by its friendly welcome – and whose members celebrated the choir's 70th birthday earlier this year.
The day will be led by Sian Winstanley, the choir’s dynamic conductor, and talented accompanist Jane Hepworth, and will highlight the variety of music sung by the choir. The event will culminate in a short free concert for family and friends.
The cost for the day is £10 to cover tuition, venue hire and refreshments. Please make your own lunch arrangements. No need to pre-book – just come along and enjoy the day!
Rehearsals for the choir’s new session start this coming Tuesday, August 20, at 7.15pm in the United Reformed Church hall.
This will be an open evening when prospective new members will be made most welcome. Come along and experience the joy of participating in choir singing, in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
