ORGANISERS of large scale events in West Dunbartonshire will now be forced to do more to notify residents.
At a meeting of the licensing committee yesterday, councillors voted to approve measures which forces bosses behind firework displays, commercial funfairs and outdoor music events to place notifications near the site of the events, as well as publish notifications in local newspapers.

Councillor Lawrence O'Neill added an amendment to the recommendations made by officers, meaning members of the committee will also be notified of the events, as well as nearby community councils and elected members.

Under the new process, organisers will have to apply within three months of the event, allowing for a 14 day period of public objection from residents.
If any representations were made, the matter would be brought before the committee for a final decision.
