Loch Lomond Hockey Club are searching for a new coach, and new players, as they prepare for the start of their latest league campaign.

During the summer the first team at the Helensburgh-based ladies’ club accepted the offer of promotion to Division One – the highest level of women’s hockey in the west of Scotland – and the club are keen to add new faces to their squad as they aim to be competitive against tough opposition.

The club’s first team campaign last season got off to a stuttering start due to injuries and unavailability, but thanks to several second team players stepping up, and the return of a number of regular first team squad members, they soon found their mojo again and set off on a winning run which secured them fourth place in Division Two.

The club’s second team acquitted themselves well in the West District’s fourth division and will be looking to improve and place higher in the coming season.

Loch Lomond’s Caroline Lyall said: “We also had four players competing this summer in a number of competitions abroad with the Scottish Masters squads in various age groups – another wonderful achievement.

“If you are interested in playing hockey regardless of what level – if you’ve never lifted a stick before, or hung up your stick and would like to get back to playing – we are looking for new members and would be delighted to hear from you and would look forward to welcoming you at our training sessions.

“We are looking for a new coach who has hockey coaching experience, is willing to undergo a PVG disclosure check, and is interested in leading our teams into victory this season.”

Remuneration will be dependent on coaching level. The coach will be expected to lead training on a Tuesday evening from 7.30-9pm on the artificial surface at Lomond School, and to attend Saturday matches where possible.
