FOUR Yoker neighbours are celebration a huge lottery win with a trip to the chippy.

The residents of Sandholm Terrace won £150,000 between them after postcode G14 0HE was drawn in the People's Postcode Lottery on Saturday.

Gibson Lees, 71, and his partner Helen Paterson, said they were over the moon to be handed £30,000.

And they opted to treat themselves to a bag of chips instead of cooking at home.

He said: "Ya dancer! I’m dumbstruck, I don’t even know what to say. We’ll go out for something to eat tonight to celebrate. We can get a bag of chips – one each actually, we won’t even need to share.

“The kids and grandkids will be as happy as Larry. Our son stays in New Jersey so this will help us visit him next year.”

Helen added: “We’re off to Blackpool next month, but we can swap Blackpool for The Bahamas now.”

Kimberley Chalmers, 28, was another £30k winner and she signed up after her friend won a few years ago.

She was speechless at first but when asked what she'd spend the cash on, said: "Holidays, holidays, holidays! I can go to Mexico!

"I really wasn’t expecting such a big amount so I can’t think past that right now. We have prosecco in the fridge so we will pop that open soon."

She added that she was pleased to know lottery money goes to good causes.

“I check every month to see which charities have received money," she said. "It’s a great feeling to know that I can win and they do too.”

Two other neighbours also won, with one bagging £30k and the other landing a prize of £60k thanks to playing with two tickets. They were not available to receive their cheque in person, but the money will be paid directly into their bank account.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Danyl Johnson presented the winners their cheques. He said: “It was lovely to meet Gibson and Kimberley – they were both delighted with their win and it sounds like there will be celebrations tonight – whether it be with a chippy or a glass of bubbly.

"I’m sure they will enjoy spending the money and treating their friends and family.”

At least 32 per cent of ticket sales goes to charities and good causes, with more than £462million being raised for UK and global projects.

The latest draw was promoted on behalf of Plan International UK, which pushes children's rights and equality for girls around the world.

Local charities such as LinkAble have also benefited from Postcode Lottery funds.
