PLANNERS have backed proposals for new elderly housing in Alexandria.

The development, at Creveul Court, would see 22 new affordable homes built, consisting of three different buildings.

The first would be over four storeys, containing 16 units of both one and two bedroom flats, the remaining buildings will house affordable bungalows.

In a report due before the planning committee tomorrow (Wednesday, August 28), planners have recommended the development be approved.

The report states the plans fall within the local development plans, and provides “much needed” affordable housing for the elderly in Alexandria.

Despite the recommendation of the passage of the plans, the report outlines no fewer than 26 conditions, including a parking review and requests for further information before any work can get underway.
