HELENSBURGH wheelchair tennis hero Gordon Reid has won his third successive US Open doubles title after partnering Alfie Hewett to victory in Sunday's final.
The Brits made a slow start against reigning French Open champions Gustavo Fernandez and Shingo Kunieda on Louis Armstrong Stadium but came back to defeat the Argentinian-Japanese partnership 1-6, 6-4, (11-9) after a deciding match tie-break.
The victory was Reid's first Grand Slam success since last year's US Open, and came after the pair saw off top seeds Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer 6-0, 6-3 in the semi-final.

The British pair's doubles triumph – their sixth Grand Slam title together – followed Hewett's 7-6(9), 7-6(5) win over Houdet in the singles final, after Houdet eliminated Reid 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 at the quarter-final stage.
It was also the first time that players on the LTA’s GB Wheelchair Tennis World Class Performance Programme have won four titles at the same Grand Slam tournament.
Andy Lapthorne claimed his second quad singles title and then partnered Australia's Dylan Alcott to victory in the quad doubles final.
