ARDENCAPLE FC’s 2007 team lost 2-1 away to Drumchapel on Saturday in the first round of the Inspire Scottish Youth Cup.

Caple took the lead through a Seth Kerr free kick after 10 minutes, but Drumchapel soon settled into a rhythm and equalised after a goalkeeping error.

The home side continued to look more likely, and they got their reward when they took the lead before half-time.

Caple weren’t helped by two injuries just before the break, and another early in the second half, and though the visitors threw caution to the wind in the closing stages Drumchapel were able to weather the storm.

Caple are back in action this Saturday, September 14, at home to St Cadoc’s, with an 11.30am kick-off.

Meanwhile, Ardencaple’s girls’ squad have been kitted out with new rain-jackets (pictured above) thanks to sponsorship from local organic and ethical clothing firm Eden.

Owner Elaine Hoyle said: “As a small Helensburgh-based business, we feel it’s so important to invest in and support the local community and especially the young people in it.”

Club chairman Craig Holborn added: “Whilst Caple continues to grow as a cub in terms of size and stature, the reality is that we simply could not function without much-needed and much-valued assistance from local businesses such as Eden.”
