MSP Jackie Baillie has called on the Scottish Government to bring Scotland’s railways into public ownership.

She spoke out following Scotrail’s most recent performance figures which have shown a fall in performance for the second consecutive month - despite the introduction of a remedial plan.

The train company’s moving annual average for performance fell to 87.4 per cent, against a franchise target of 92.5 per cent.

Locally, passengers have suffered almost a year of bad service, with trains constantly being cancelled, delayed, short-formed and over crowded.

Ms Baillie said: “It is clear that Scotrail are just not up to the task.

“Passengers are rightly becoming frustrated with the poor service. Customer’s deserve better than this shambolic service.”
